Disney takes its animated films on tour in all-new immersive experience

What does Disney have in common with Vincent Van Gogh and Frida Kahlo? Walt Disney Animation Studios is the latest subject in a series of immersive art experiences taking over exhibition spaces across North America.

Disney Animation: Immersive Experience” will take visitors inside present-day Disney favorites like “Encanto,” “Zootopia” and “Frozen,” along with timeless classics including “The Lion King,” “Peter Pan” and “Pinocchio,” allowing fans to experience the music, characters and magical settings of these films like never before.

The event kicks off in Toronto in December and will hit eight additional North American locations — Denver; Cleveland; Detroit; Boston; Nashville; Columbus, Ohio; Minneapolis; and San Antonio — in early 2023. More cities are in the process of being scheduled and the exhibition will even make its way to Tokyo, opening the door to the possibility of additional international cities.

Pricing starts at $39.99 and tickets are on sale now for all locations. That price includes admission only, but you can purchase premium and VIP tickets that come with additional perks like an interactive wristband, skip-the-line access and souvenirs.

Disney is bringing these animated blockbusters to life in collaboration with Lighthouse Immersive Studios, the producers of similar multisensory, experiential projection exhibitions featuring Van Gogh, Kahlo and other world-renowned historical icons.

“Just imagine journeying through Zootopia with Judy Hopps, diving to the ocean floor with Ariel, flying on a magic carpet with Aladdin, and stepping into Casita with Mirabel and the family Madrigal,” Lighthouse Immersive founder Corey Ross said of the project. “This is where the Disney Animation: Immersive Experience will take you.”
